Upper Mustang Trekking is lies in the remote Trans-Himalayan mountain area where Tibetan culture influences the lifestyle of people greatly. Kaligandaki, one of the areas where Tibetan culture influences greatly and lies in south of the Tibetan border, to Kagbeni is marked the Upper Mustang region. Upper Mustang Treks is full of cultural diversity that exhibits the ancient Buddhist cultures and its artifacts some of which includes old monasteries, caves and local tribes sparsely distributed along the diverse landscape of the Upper Mustang.

Upper Mustang Trek starts from the world’s deepest gorge in the Kaligandaki region and elevates into the world’s highest regions of the Lo-Mangthan Valley, an area which is nearly tree-less and barren. Then through the up and downhill trails full of panoramic views of the mountains, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and many other peaks of the Himalayan region, follow the trail. One also gets a chance to pass through the high peaks, various passes, mighty glaciers and serene alpine valleys. Isolated from mainstream culture, the lifestyle and heritage of this region is unique and promises to feast the eyes of the curious as the traditional ways of living here is unchanged for a thousand of years. The trek allows you to view houses made of stone and baked mud bricks.

Among the various architectural marvels of the region is the four story palace in Lo-Manthang. The Mustang Tiji festival of the Tibetan Buddhism culture can be experienced here in the Mustang region. The way of living of the people of Mustang contrasts from the normal way of living that many are used to and a trekking through the Mustang region will surely keep you surprised. For instance, many families of Mustang practice polyandry; all the brothers share the same wife!
